Installation of DB2 servers

Prerequisites:

              

  • Ensure that your system meets installation, memory, and disk requirements.
  • You must have root authority to perform the installation.
  • The DB2 product image must be available 
  • you must manually create required DB2 users before you start the DB2 installation.

 Installation Process:


  • Log on to the system as a user with root authority. 
  • Change to the directory where the DB2 database product CD is mounted
  • If you downloaded the DB2 database product image, you must decompress and untar the product file. 
  • Untar the product file by using this command : abc@inst$ tar xvf product.tar
  • Enter the ./db2_install command from the directory where the product image resides to start the DB2 Installation
  •   DB2 database product will be installed, by default, in one of the following directories: /opt/ibm/db2/V9.7
  • The installation logs, db2setup.log and db2setup.err will be located, by default, in the /tmp directory.

 Post Installation steps:



Applying DB2 licenses by using this command

db2licm -a db2ese_c.lic
